Steel Creek was created at first as a reference to a place where something went down involving Jim Hammer and his "ghost gang" the Pale Riders. The references began in Kevin Powers' senior final screenplay at Ithaca College entitled "Legends of the West," which was also the birth of Jim Hammer and the "Tales of the West" universe. As the universe expanded, including an additional screenplay, Kevin began to explore the myth of Steel Creek that existed in this universe. Diverting from the screenplay route, Kevin thought another passion, comics, would be the perfect venue for Steel Creek. After writing and laying out the first pages of a graphic novel, Kevin decided against it, believing there was too much in terms of story to be contained in a single graphic novel.
After letting Steel Creek rest for about a year, Kevin returned to his Western universe with a bold idea for a new direction, a series of short stories taking place in the town.
Steel Creek, Jim Hammer, Tales of the West, all characters and all related elements are property of Kevin Powers. |
